Big happy new year to everyone who helped make all my videos and projects happen I’m 2013 this includes riders, drivers and mostly importantly the people who make the events happen! Here to a better 2014. So enjoy this video
Early start for me, which was 6am, because I had a 2 hour car journey to get to Belfast! When I got to the BBC in Belfast I went in the front doors to the reception desk where I got my visitor’s pass which allowed me to be in the building. After I got my pass I went through a set of glass barriers which led me to a small seating area where some members of the group were already sitting waiting.
We were waiting about in this area for a wee while until everyone turned up and then we went up to the 5th floor where BBC Radio Ulster was on. We went to the board room where we were for the day.
One of the first things that we did was a wee ice breaker game to get to know the person next to me. That was going well until she got my name wrong even tho i had a name tag on me. After that session we talked about what we are going to do on this course and we talked about what the silver arts award consisted of.
Later after that talk we met one of our teachers called Michael Lennox who was a director, and he showed us some of his work and his videos were unreal and inspire me to make content like his! After his talk he took us through a bit of the history of film making which was really interesting, but i knew some already because i learned some of it in college last year. I did learn some new information which will be with me for life.
At around 1130 the UTV film critic Brain Henry Martin came in to give us a big talk on film criticism which meant he taught us how to write film reviews which i might start doing if i get time because it’s very interesting. I learned a lot from this session with him. While he was in with us we learned a lot about different actors and people within the industy. After a while we went for our lunch and we went around the Continental Market for a while and then we went to Mc Donald’s for lunch. We had to be back at the BBC for 2pm for the next session.
When we got back to class we learned how to develop stories and along with character development which is very useful in course i’m studying in college. Later after we learned about that we watched some short films to help get the feel for short film making.
This is one my favourites that they showed us! made me laugh a lot!
I would love to make something like this!
Micheal split us up in to groups were we had to make up a story for a film that we would like to make, it was very interesting working with people who have the same sort of things in mind! I think our groups film was the best!! After we came up with our film idea to class and get the feed back on how good or bad it was and we got good enough feed back.
I had a brilliant first day and can’t wait to week two and i made some really cool new friends!!
